Charity

Even though there is enough food in the world to feed everyone, 690 million people go to bed every day hungry (WFP, 2022). Conflict and economics are some of the major causes of hunger. In the middle of conflict when people flee for their lives, they usually leave their possessions behind and have nothing besides the clothes on their back. Other economically deprived people such as orphans and the homeless share similar plights. An individual child-based measurement of child poverty conducted by UNICEF reported 65% of children suffer at least one material resource deprivation with the average child suffering two deprivations (UNICEF,2020).

Malnutrition and resource deprivation leads to crime, exploitation, illness and death.

Education

Education is key to the eradication of global poverty as it promotes self-reliance, interdependence, identity and understanding of social justice. However, 258 million children of primary school age and youth combined around the world are without access to education (UNESCO, June 2022). Some have been denied the right to access for reasons such as gender and child labour, others have been displaced in war torn zones, and others due to financial constraints. Lack of education leads to susceptibility to diseases, violence, exploitation, and perpetrates the cycle of poverty.

Health

At We Care International, we recognize that holistic health is more than just medical care—it includes laughter, exercise, love, family, social connections, and meaningful occupations.
